Changing the default browser in PHPStorm

A little less Chrome in my life

Last year, I discovered the amazing Kagi search engine, and shortly thereafter also switched full-time to their Orion browser as well.

This is great for my normal searching and browsing needs, but I still like using Chrome as my default development browser when working on Laravel apps.

This caused a little bit of friction when I was in PHPStorm and wanted to click through to a link. It would open by default in Orion, so I'd always have to remember to right-click the link and choose "Open in Chrome."

After a few days of being annoyed, I poked around PHPStorm Settings and found that I could make a change to select Chrome by default.

Settings > Tools > Web Browsers > Default Browser - set this to "First listed" instead of "System default", and then make sure Chrome comes first in the list.

Now I get the best of both worlds!
